It is argued that parents should be responsible for punishment in a few ways if the law is broken by their children. This essay will explain why I totally agree with this statement and provide evidence that parents should be faced with the outcomes of their children.
Even if one parent is punished for the actions of a child, the latter is going to realize that his or her actions might have serious consequences. Child breaking the law in a small scale first, sees that parents are paying the fees. He starts to think about that it might go to the worse situations like prison if it is repeated, so he understands that there are rules made for everyone. In cases where the child himself is responsible for the outcome of a crime, he might do it again, because the feeling of shame towards himself is not that strong as he would feel it to his parents. As a result, children try to think before their actions and be aware of that decisions made by them also affect to others.
Child meeting with the problems that he caused, sees how hard it is to be a parent and thinks about their perspective. Child being in a young age is very dependant on his parents, so when they get locked up, for example for stealing, child truly finds out how many things are in duty of a parent. The need to take care of the family financially, providing child care and lots of reputation to carry by the parents is not easy at all. This leads children to value their parents more and motivates them to be a good caretaker. In conclusion, parents being punished for breaking the law by their children, makes children to take action thinking about the final result and encourages to avoid any sort of crimes.
