In this decade, there is a popular opinion of parents that it is better for children to learn how to be a good member of society at school, rather than teaching them it by themselves. This essay will discuss pros and cons of this opinion and my opinion about it.
One of the main reasons why it is good teaching it at school is discipline. At school every child is under the pressure by teachers and other staff of school, therefore discipline and focusing on what teacher says will be way better than at home. Secondly, in most schools, teachers consider student's manners and social background, since these factors have a significant influence on the grades they will receive. However, this is better to be taught by their parents at home, for a few significant reasons such as, early habit formation and the unique role of parents as primary role models.
The first reason, early habit formation is highly effective. It positively impacts a child's development from early cognitive growth, to the acquisition of strong communication skills at a young age. The second reason, the unique role of parents, children inclined to accept guidance from their parents, whereas they may ignore decrees of teachers, since childen do not see teachers as the main attachment figures. In conclusion, despite of pros learning how to be a good member of society for children at school, they are outweigh by the drawbacks of being taught it by their parents at home with several reasons.
